Where are we? We will be in the Molecular and Cell Biology building on the ground floor. Enter via University Avenue from the North side of UCT. As you enter the foyer area, turn right and walk down. The CBE Labs are on the right side of the corridor - that's where you'll find us.

We supply you with: a plug point for power, an RJ45 (ethernet) port and CAT6 ethernet cable for internet & network connectivity, spatious flat-surface table tops and upholstered seating. Please note Wifi is available, however, we cannot gaurantee optimal gaming performance as the Wifi is not prioritized for gaming.

You need to bring: your PC/laptop, headset (no speakers permitted), snacks, drinks (alcohol is strictly prohibited), pillow/blanket, extra cash for food in case you get hungry

Parking is available in P6, next to the MCB Building. Parking anywhere other than in the pre-allocated space could result in a fine. (See Image)

Technical staff will be available for resolving particular networking issues, however, please ensure your PC is in working order before arriving. Also, ensure you have updated all your games. We will make provision for patch updates to be allowed, however, we will enforce that gamers please refrain from downloading as it puts much strain on HTTP traffic over the network (which causes problems with logging into certain game servers).

A few rules to remember: Smoking is not permited inside the building, eating and drinking is permitted BUT please keep your space clean and throw all rubbish into the bins provided, illegal substances are prohibited, speakers are not permited. Keep in mind the labs are used for research so please respect the equipment and each other. Keep noise levels respectable but remember to have fun too :)

Please note that funds raised from this particular LAN will be used to capitalize for our large LAN in December, which will be in association with our charity beneficiaries. We endeavor to make contributions to charities as always but know that the bulk of revenue generated will fund operations for expanding our organization as a whole.
